Quarterlife
Quarterlife refers to those of us who are about a quarter of the way through our journey in life (specifically those between 18 and 29 years old). Statistically speaking, we are about ¼ of the way done and have ¾ to go. If we were to put it in terms of track, we just rounded our first lap and we have three more to go. We’re Justin Timberlake instead of Justin Bieber. We’re... okay, so you get the point, right? Basically there is more life ahead than behind.
For some of us, that’s pretty exciting. We feel like we are just now hitting our stride and things are good. To others of us the journey ahead seems daunting. We have enough life experience under our belts to know that things don’t always turn out as expected.
Some of us have been through relationships that have left us jaded and wondering if there is still hope. Many of us have already made our mistakes, some that are still having negative effects (and if you’ve made it this far unscathed - emotionally or physically - we may have to check to see if you still have a pulse).
But whatever your outlook on what’s ahead, the one common characteristic about the quarterlife years is that they are a time of significant transition. And while we’ll be making big decisions our whole life, now more than ever it seems we’ve got some huge ones ahead.
